| George Laurence UnwinGeorge Laurence Unwin was born on June 17, 1891. He was classed unfit for service in the First World War of 1914-1918 due to either an enlarged heart or having had TB (consumption) as a young adult, convalescing at a TB hospital in Delamere Forest. He could recall the cold open shelters used to give the patients fresh air in the days before antibiotics.George married Anne Williams (b January 12, 1892, Holyhead) at St Peter's Church, Liverpool, on September 4, 1912. Together, they managed a series of shops in Liverpool, notably in Lodge Lane and Gwladys Street, and including Shuttleworths, a fizzy pop shop, as well as several herb shops.George also worked on Liverpool docks, and later in life did short stints at Parkeston Quay, Harwich, and the nearby mine depot at Wrabness.He liked pubs and was known as the "memory man" for his knowledge of football and Liverpool FC in particular. He won many drinks in his "local", The Stuart Arms in Bedford Road, Walton, Liverpool, thanks to his ability to recall soccer trivia.George died in Fazakerley Hospital, Liverpool, on August 20, 1975.
