| The Jacobite Wars and the ProssorsThe Prossors lived in Ireland before the Battle of the Boyne, possibly the key event in modern Irish history. A Thomas Prossor is recorded as a brewer in Finglas, Ireland, near the end of Charles II's reign. All the Prossors to whom I have spoken have some knowledge that our ancestors fought for King William of Orange (aka King William III or King Billy) at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.On William's side were at least two Prossor brothers to whom was granted land in Limerick and/or Cork, and Tipperary and Waterford. That land was to stay with the Prossors, being sold piece by piece. | | |
