| Odds and EndsIn the course of my family research, I've come across various odds and ends about Liverpool - where so many of my family havee come from. Here I'm going to share some of my favourite pictures and websites. Please let me know if any of the links go out of date.Postance's History of LiverpoolMy brother Frank found this book at a boot sale - and I thought it needed a bigger audience; it was too good to lie gathering dust on a bookshelf. I have a PDF of the text. Download here. The black and white pictures are featured on this page. Please note that the text makes reference to St Paul's Church, Belvidere Road. This church was built in 1848 and demolished in 1975; its site is now tennis courts for the Belvedere School.Denison Street, Gibraltar Row & St Martin's CottagesMy Bramhill family lived in the Gibraltar Row and Denison Street area, just north of the Pier Head, for years - reflecting their jobs as watermen and carters. Denison Street was built in the early 1800s and was named after William Denison, part-owner of the privateer Enterprise. My great grandfather, William James Bramhill, and his wife Sarah, were among the first tenants of St Martin's Cottages, Europe's first corporation housing, and my grandfather, William John Bramhill was born there.
