| Elvidge of Lincs and YorksJack and Alexander are linked to the Elvidges via their maternal maternal great grandmother DORIS MARY ELVIDGE (1915-2002) Doris married Wilfred Albrow in the 1930s. Wilfred died in 1980; Doris died in 2003.Via censuses, we traced Liz's Elvidge ancestry back to her great grandfather, Isaac, born in 1848.Now, thanks to genealogist Paul Elvidge, we are back to Charles Elvidge, born in the late 18th Century, in the village of Eagle, eight miles south-west of Lincoln and a stone's throw from the Roman-built Fosse Way.Our Elvidges moved over to the Lincolnshire coast in the 1830s, living as farm workers at Midville, ten miles north of Boston. Following that, they took part in the geographical upheaval of the Victorian age, moving inland from Freiston to Frieston (yes, two places about 50 miles apart), then up into Nottinghamshire, from Mansfield to Tickhill, and on to Leeds. There are various Elvidge families looking at family history, and they are all based in the Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire areas.
