We are looking for the family line of Jack and Alexander Bramhill back from Thomas Bramhill, "Thomas the blacksmith".
There is a distinct family of Bramhill variants (Bramhall, Brownhill or Brambill) living in the Huyton and Childwall areas from Tudor times. More on Huyton Bramhills.

The most likely ancestors are shown in red but be aware that the theory is intertwined.
One possibility is that Thomas is the son or grandson of WILLIAM BRAMHALL born 1753 in Huyton by Roby, three miles outside Liverpool. He married Margaret UNKNOWN and they had ten children - Ellen 1779, Mary 1780, Catharine 1785, Margaret 1787, William 1789, Richard 1792 (married Mary Doyle, Liverpool, 1821), Martha 1795, James 1797, Catharine 2 1800, and Thomas b unknown.
NEXT GENERATION
Thomas, son of William b1753, is quite likely "our" Thomas. The 1851 Census records a Thomas Brownhill, age 55, an agricultural labourer, living with wife Catherine, 41, and scholars Ann, 11, and William, 6, and servant and ag lab Walter Stott 51. They are recorded as living in Melling with Cunscough, about four miles NE of Liverpool.
There is a possibility, too, that "our" Thomas could be the grandson of William b1753. William's son, William, born Sept 19, 1789, married Ellen and they had at least five children including John, Martha, Ellen, Thomas and Ann. William is listed age 52 in the 1841 census as living at Blue Bell, Huyton, by which time it looks as if Ellen has died.
At the moment, we have no way of confirming either theory.
