Jack and Alexander's gt gt gt grandfather, Edgar Nathaniel Albrow, born April 21, 1865, in Wangford, Bungay, Suffolk, married Elizabeth CASEMORE, b Millwall, the daughter of sawyer James CASEMORE and Susannah. Both James and Susannah were living in West Ham but came from the village of Hartwell, Northants; it is likely that this Casemore family originally came from Aston Clinton, a villege near Aylesbury, Bucks.
We have traced the Casemore family back:
In 1891, James Ebenezer Casemore and Susannah are living in Canning Town, West Ham (cannot make out street on census). He is 60, she is 58. His occupation is sawyer. Both are born in Hartwell, Northants. Also at home is Kate Jane, aged 21, b Millwall. Her occupation appears to be "assistant headmistress".
In 1881, James and Susan are living in 25 Lower Grey Street, Silvertown, Plaistow, West Ham. Their ages are both given as 52 and he is a sawyers. Also at home are John, 21, a sawyer, Eliza, 20, a hose maker, and Kate Jane aged 1, a scholar. All three children are born in Middlesex, John in Bromley, Eliza in Poplar (Kate's birthplace is obscured).
In 1871, James and Susan are living in Plaistow, West Ham. James is using his middle name of Ebenezer while the surname is spelt Casimere in indexes though it is clearly Casemore in the original document. Their children are John, 11, Eliza, 10, Kate, 4, and Thomas, 8 months. His occupation is given as "wood sawyer". The parents' birthplace is given as Hartwell, and all three children are born in Poplar, Middlesex., except Thomas, who is born in Plaistow.
In 1861, James is living in 5 Bradshaw's Cottages, Tower Hamlets, Poplar. He is aged 33. His wife is given as Eliza, aged 28. John is aged 1 and Eliza is aged one month. Also in the house is Elizabeth Embery aged 66. James's birthplace is given as Hartwell, while Eliza senior's birthplace is Egham, Surrey. John's birthplace is Bromley, and Eliza junior's is Poplar. Elizabeth Embery was born in Iver, Bucks; she is said to be a visitor.
An Eliza Casemore died in Poplar in June 1861 (1c 408). An Ebenezer Casemore married Susannah Wickins in Potterspury (3b 51) on the border of Bucks and Northants, in March 1864.
In 1851, James is living by himself in Egham, Surrey. His age is given as 21, and he is a sawyer, born Hartwell, Northants.
Odds and sods: an Note that the death of an Elizabeth Casemore, aged 41, is recorded in Bethnal Green in June 1869 (1c 175)
